Books

A note about books.

Before your trip, consider borrowing a few children’s books from your local library that connect to the places you’ll be visiting — stories about castles, kings and queens, artists, inventors, and everyday life in France through history. These books don’t need to be “schoolwork” or preparation in any formal sense; they’re simply a way to spark curiosity and familiarity before you go.

Reading together ahead of time can make real places feel instantly more meaningful when you arrive — a château becomes more than a building, a village feels more alive, and museum visits turn into moments of recognition rather than first encounters. It’s a gentle way to deepen your child’s experience of travel while keeping it fun, imaginative, and age-appropriate.

Think of it as planting small seeds of familiarity before the journey begins — so when you arrive in France, the stories have somewhere to land.
